What this site tracks
This blog runs on Ghost. Ghost's built-in analytics counts visits. It keeps nothing in your browser. I see which pages were read, which sites sent readers, and what countries they came from. Ghost also receives your browser type and language. If you're signed in, Ghost ties those visits to your member account.
Reading here sets no cookies. Signing in sets Ghost's member cookies so you stay signed in. Your color scheme choice stays in your browser. Ghost also keeps a short list of pages you visited to tell where a signup came from. The list clears when you close the tab.
Subscribing gives your address to Ghost. Ghost sends the newsletter and records which links you click in each issue. It doesn't record opens. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.
Comments need a sign-in. They go to Ghost and show under the post with your name.
Pages load fonts from fonts.bunny.net, scripts from cdn.jsdelivr.net, and images from storage.ghost.io. Some posts load photos from images.unsplash.com. The author page loads my photo from gravatar.com. Ghost's scripts also call badwater.ghost.io, Ghost's address for this site. Each of those hosts sees your request.
Ghost hosts the site and Fastly carries it. Both keep ordinary server logs.
